About Us
In 1972 several churches in the Athens, TN community got together and combined their efforts to help people who are in need. This “Coordinated” effort pools a variety of resources in hopes of doing more/better good together.
Today, Coordinated Charities represents a large network of community resources including local churches, area ministries, local businesses, the United Way of McMinn/Meigs Counties, local utility companies, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank/Feeding America, and many volunteers/individuals who give their time and resources. With this network, we are prepared to effectively and responsibly reach people who are in need.
In a responsible manner, we offer food/groceries, utility assistance, rent assistance, medical assistance, homeless aide, transient assistance and service hours for those who need them.
We also offer the community a variety of ways to get involved. We accept and cherish people who come to volunteer in our mission. We also operate a Thrift Store. Our store survives and thrives through the continuing generosity of the McMinn County area community in the form of donations. It is a great and exciting experience for anyone to shop for the ever changing and latest items in our store. And best of all, our store adds to the network of resources that financially support the mission of our aide agency.
Coordinated Charities is one of the best examples of people in a community working together for a cause that uplifts others. I am so proud to serve as Executive Director! It is one of the very best organizations that promotes a Christian example of looking out for the interests of others.
Coordinated Charities Inc. is a private, non-profit social and human care agency created to provide limited emergency assistance to individuals in need.
The United Way of McMinn/Meigs County, Athens Utilities Board’s Warm Neighbor Fund, area churches, the Athens/McMinn Ministerial Association, various civic organizations, and caring individuals have all coordinated their efforts in providing financial support for this organization.
It is the hope of all groups involved that by having a centralized location for providing necessary assistance, the ultimate goal of better utilizing funds and an avoidance of duplication of services will result.
Contributions given to the local United Way of McMinn County from caring and concerned individuals help to support a large portion of the funding of this
agency’s functions.
